There's not a lot of globally held festivals that bring this much hype as the Rio Carnival. It's a melting pot of music, dances, cultures, food, festivities and pure celebration of life. The city doesn't sleep for 5 days and it's an all around amazing and inclusive festival that gathers people around the globe every year before Lent!
The costumes are the most iconic and recognizable part of the carnival.
The Sambadrome is the famous Rio parade that features massive 20m floats, dazzling costumes and around 60,000 renown performers that compete for the crown of the best samba school.
Blocos-parties organized by local neighborhoods are always going on around Rio day and night, and the Sambadrome parade lasts from around 10pm to 6am.
Rio Carnival is not just about the parades-there's a bunch of sightseeing and festivities and cultural events!
